He is best known for his work as a former presenter of Channel 4’s Football Italia and as the host of The Guardian Football Weekly podcast. He is currently the host of BT Sport’s The UEFA Champions League Goals Show, Channel 5’s World’s Strongest Man, and The Totally Football Show podcast.

From 1992 to 2002, James hosted Football Italia on Channel 4. Richardson became well-known as a result of Football Italia, and the show became cult viewing for football fans in the United Kingdom. Football Italia was made up of two-weekend shows.
On Saturday mornings, Richardson would host Gazzetta Football Italia, a magazine show that recapped the previous weekend’s games while also keeping viewers up to date on the latest Italian football news. It would show him sitting in a picturesque café with a cappuccino, a pastry or gelato, and a stack of Italian sports newspapers, which he would use to show viewers the latest football stories and headlines.
During the 2010 European Darts Championship, he and Dave Gorman co-hosted Bravo TV’s first live PDC darts coverage. Between 2005 and 2013, he was also the host of British Eurosport’s live Tour de France coverage. Richardson has been hosting the television coverage of the World’s Strongest Man since 2011.
