Jerry Bishop was an American announcer famously known as the announcer for “Judge Judy” since the syndicated courtroom show’s inception. Bishop has been the voice of the program for 24 years. He was also a former L.A. morning drive disc jockey.

Born in Hartford He established himself as a prominent morning drive radio host in Los Angeles in the 1960s to the ’80s, working at stations including  KIIS, KLAC, and KFI.

Bishop went to  Emerson College in 1950 and earned his degree in broadcast journalism. He started out at WDRC in Hartford before coming to California. He, later on, moved on to doing other voiceover and commercial work, including a 15-year run serving as the voice of the Disney Channel.

Bishop branched out into voice-overs, during and after his radio days, doing commercials for such major brands as Budweiser and Burger King and also did voicing promos for NBC and ABC. He was the of-camera announcer for The $10,000 Pyramid for a while in the 1980s and he also had a 15-year run as the “voice” of Disney Channel.
