Katrina attended a meeting for Tea Party activists in Myrtle Beach with Ted Cruz in January 2015. While there she met with Donald Trump and after a few meetings, she introduced Trump at a campaign rally held in Dallas in September.
She was later hired as the national spokesperson for Trump’s campaign in November. She, therefore, appeared on television frequently with her new role. Some of her controversial comments include: falsely claiming that Barack Obama was responsible for the invasion of Afghanistan, that homosexuality was “an aberration,” and that Muslims should be banned from entry to the U.S. based on their religion.
Pierson turned down an administration position as Deputy Press Secretary after Donald Trump became the president. She, however, worked at America First Policies, a pro-Trump 501(c)(4) group.

On 10th March 2019 during her appearance on MSNBC Katrina dismissed a question about diversity within President Trump’s administration by asking how many black people worked in President Abraham Lincoln’s administration.
“I’m not going to participate in the attempt to make this all about race. It is ridiculous. How many black people were in Abraham Lincoln’s West Wing?… Everything has to be made about race, reverend … I’m not going to participate if you’re going to continue to paint this president as racist”.
She also claimed that there were many black people in the White House when asked how the president would appeal to black voters without hiring African-Americans within his administration.
“There’s plenty of black people working in the White House. If you’ve got to go back to Abe Lincoln you’ve really need to shop it. Is Abraham Lincoln a racist because he didn’t have a black person in his White House? This is insane. This is an insane discussion.”
Katrina Pierson Shoplifting
In 1997, five days before her 21st birthday, Katrina was caught shoplifting and was arrested on a charge of theft of greater than $50 and less than $500. She pleaded no contest to the charges and received deferred adjudication, and, ultimately, a dismissal with the case sealed. At the time she told authorities that she needed the clothes for a job interview. She has said that the incident helped her turn her life around, showing her that mistakes often come with consequences.
