Luke Islam Biography
Luke Islam is a 12-years-old aspiring Broadway star and of the contestants on America’s Got Talent season 14. On July 9, 2019, during his audition he received Julianne Golden Buzzer after he did a rendition of Sara Bareilles’s ‘She Used to Be Mine’ from the Broadway musical Waitress.

Luke Islam’s parents’ names have not been revealed although they were there to support him during the auditions. His mother said that she took him to his Broadway show at the age of six.

Luke Islam America’s Got Talent
Luke auditioned for America’s Got Talent season 15 on the episode that aired on July 9, 2019. He was asked by judge Gabrielle Union who his favourite judge, he claimed to love all the judges but if he would choose one he would take Julianne Hough. He said together with his sister they have followed Julianne’s and her brother’s dance career.
He did a rendition of Sara Bareilles’s “She Used to Be Mine,” from the Broadway musical Waitress. He got a standing ovation for his performance.
Judge Howie commented; You know, people come on here and hopefully, dreams come true and I think we are watching the beginning of your dream coming true.’
Simon Cowell told him not to put himself into a generic music pool; “What’s so important if you move forward, don’t put yourself into a generic music pool. You got to sing songs that every one of your performances is an audition for the best producers on Broadway. You really got to make an impression. This is really key.”
Gabrielle Union praised him saying, “You killed it!”
Julianne commented; ‘I am extremely flattered that you would even look up to my brother and I with a voice like that, with an energy like that. You have an essence inside of you that has given you a gift. I believe that not only are you going to become a star and get your dream to come true, but I don’t think you need to wait that much longer, because…’ then she pushed the golden buzzer.
Luke Islam Golden Buzzer
Luke received a golden buzzer from Julianne Hough, who he had said was his favourite judge. Before hitting the buzzer Julianne said; “You have such talent and grace. You have something so special. You have an essence inside you that has given you a gift. And I believe that not only are you going to become a star, and get your dream to come true, but I don’t think you have to wait much longer.”

After the golden buzzer, Julianne did an interview with PEOPLE saying; “It was so instant. Literally the minute he came out on stage, my whole body shifted and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ His essence and what he was giving off was star power. I was just blown away. I hit that Golden Buzzer and was tingly all over, I got goosebumps.”
Luke Islam Broadway
During the audition he told the judges that his dream was to be a star and make it to Broadway; “My dream is to be a star and make it to Broadway. All my life I’ve been thinking about Broadway and I love it so, so much. America’s Got Talent is the next way to achieve that goal.”
Islam began going to Broadway musicals since he was six years old. His mother revealed that she took him to his first Broadway show at the age of six and ‘ something sparked’. Islam said that every weekend he entered the Broadway lotteries and that way he would get discounted tickets. He also revealed that he had seen ‘Kinky Boots’ eight times.
“I love the audience, I love the crowd, I love the stage, the props, the costumes. I want to be up there, I want to do what they do. Broadway is so good!”
During the intro video on AGT, he told Terry Crews that he first discovered his love for performing after he participated in a showcase at his preschool.
He competed in the Broadway musical Waitress‘ Karaoke contest which was hosted by Jason Mraz and Tiffany Mann. His rendition was posted on Waitress Musical Instagram page.
Luke Islam is a Member Of Wingspan Arts
Luke is also a member of Wingspan Arts which is a non-profit art education organization based in Manhattan. Most recently, he performed as part of The Cast Recording Experience 2019 program by The Broadway Star Project. He sang along fellow artist Gianna Harris. They did a rendition of “The Last Night of the World” from the Broadway musical ‘Miss Saigon’.
On May 28, Wingspan Arts posted on their twitter account that Luke had auditioned for AGT.

After Luke received the Golden Buzzer they congratulated him and wrote that they were glad Julianne saw what they have seen in Luke for years.
