Mark Pougatch is an English independent radio and television broadcaster, as well as a journalist and author. He is presently the Chief Sports Presenter for ITV Sport, where he is in charge of the channel’s major football and rugby programming. Pougatch began his career at the former BBC London radio station, BBC GLR, where he worked for six months. In 1992, he joined BBC Essex as a regular football correspondent. He joined BBC Radio 5 Live in 1994 and was chosen as the primary presenter of 5 live Sport on Sundays.
He moved to the flagship Saturday version of the show in August 2000 and remained there until August 2016, when he was replaced by Mark Chapman. Throughout the football season, he continues to host various editions of 5 Live Sport, most notably on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Throughout the football season, he also hosts The Weekend Review on Premier League TV on Mondays.
Pougatch took over as ITV’s principal football presenter from Adrian Chiles in January 2015, headlining the channel’s coverage of the UEFA Champions League, England Internationals, and afterward Euro 2016. He co-hosted ITV’s coverage of the Six Nations Rugby Championship in February and March 2016, and he continued in the same role in 2017, 2018, and 2019, before co-hosting ITV’s coverage of the 2019 Rugby World Cup alongside Craig Doyle.
Pougatch was named Sports Broadcaster of the Year by the Sports Journalists’ Association in March 2012. He has been hosting the Saturday afternoon show BT Sport Score on BT Sport since August 13, 2016.
