Elizaveta Apushkina Biography

Elizaveta Apushkina (Elizaveta Apushkina Dadasheva) is the wife of the late Russian boxer Maxim Dadashe who died on July 23, 2019 of brain injuries he sustained on July 19, while competing in an IBF junior welterweight title bout eliminator against Subriel Matias at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

After his death, Elizaveta said in a statement that Maxim was a kind person who fought until the end. She added that their son will continue to be raised to be a great man like his father.

Our son will continue to be raised to be a great man like his father. Lastly, I would like to thank everyone that cared for Maxim during his final days. Maxim Dadashe Death

Maxim died after suffering brain injuries during a 140-pound world title elimination fight with Subriel Matias at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland on July 19, 2019.

He collapsed while he was making way out of the ring after his trainer Buddy McGirt asked the referee to stop the fight as Maxim was being hit over and over. He was taken to hospital where it was established that he had suffered a bleed on the right side of his brain, subdural hematoma.

Maxim was placed in a medically induced coma after he underwent surgery but was reported dead on July 23. His death was confirmed by his wife who released a statement through the hospital management which said;

“It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of my husband, Maxim Dadashev. He was a very kind person who fought until the very end. Our son will continue to be raised to be a great man like his father. Lastly, I would like to thank everyone that cared for Maxim during his final days. I ask that everyone please respect our privacy during this very difficult time.”

The Russian Boxing Federation said there had opened an investigation with the secretary general Umar Kremlev suggesting that there was “some kind of violation”.

“We will fully support his family, including financially. We will complete the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fight, we need to know the truth about what happened. This happens in any sport. I think some human factors intervened, there was some kind of violation.”

Maxim Dadashe Fight

Maxim was competing in a 140-pound world title elimination fight with Subriel Matias at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The fight was stopped by his trainer Buddy McGirt during the 11th round after Matias dominated the fight.

McGirt had initially tried to convince Maxim to quit but he refused in a video he was seen pleading with him until the asked the referee to stop the fight.

“I’m going to stop it, Max. Max, you’re getting hit too much… Please, Max, please. Let me do this. OK? OK? Look at me. Please… If I don’t, the referee’s gonna do it. C’mon, Max. Please.”

After the fight, McGirt said he wanted to stop the fight during the 9th round but he made up his mind after the 11th round after he saw him fading.

After the fight McGirth said he would rather have a fighter be mad at him for a day or two rather than be mad at him for the rest of their life as one punch can change a person’s life and he wasn’t going to let that happen.
