Mike Lindell My Pillow

Mike launched My Pillow in 2004 in his home state of Minnesota. He alleges that he had an idea for MyPillow, a pillow that would hold its shape, came to him in a dream. “I got up in the middle of the night — it was about 2 in the morning — and I had ‘My Pillow’ written everywhere in the kitchen and all over the house.”

He and his son Darren spent hours cutting up foam and testing configurations before they came up with a pillow that would hold its shape. He made several dozen pillows and a relative suggested he should set up a kiosk in the mall.

He borrowed $15,000 to set up a kiosk during Christmas but sold only 80 pillows. However, one buyer was a man who ran a local home show in Minneapolis. Lindell said the man was so impressed with the pillow, he invited Lindell to come to the next show.

In 2011 MyPillow got media attention as a local newspaper profiled Lindell and the company. He soon started taking out print ads telling his story, and then he had another dream: Make an infomercial. It apparently worked. “By the end of the year, we went from five employees to 500.”

Mike Lindell Drugs

Mike was a drug addict but has seen recovered. He was a cocaine addict which led to the break of his marriage and almost loss of his business. When he started the pillow project it helped keep his cocaine addiction at bay.

He says that in March 2008 he stayed awake for at least two weeks doing crack. He says that his dealer, Lee put the word out on the street that no one was to sell Lindell any more drugs until he got some sleep.

He tried to buy coke that night after Lee fell asleep but no one would sell him. “One of the guys said, ‘You’re our only hope.’” When Lindell returned to his dealer’s apartment, Lee was awake. “He goes, ‘Give me your phone. I’m going to take a picture. You’re going to need this for your book.’”

It took him another 10 months for him to really hit bottom. On Jan. 16, 2009, “I had one prayer that night. God, I want to wake up in the morning and never have the desire again,” he said.

He said that he woke up the next day and felt something different as his business had started doing well. “I woke up the next day — and you’ve got to realize this is years of crack addiction — I go, ‘Wow, something’s different.’”

He said that was the beginning of his sobriety. His desire for any form of cocaine “was just gone.”

Mike met Donald Trump in August 2016. In October 2016 he attended the final presidential debate, and he spoke about the Trump campaign rally in Minneapolis.

In 2019 during the opening day of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in suburban D.C. Mike said that Trump was chosen by God to run for president. He reportedly said that Trump was picked by a higher power to seek the presidency.

“I now bring you back in time to the summer of 2015. I see Donald Trump coming down an escalator and announcing he is running for president. For me it was a divine and miraculous moment — I felt something miraculous was about to unfold.”

The Washington Times reported that he said; “Donald Trump invited me to meet him at Trump Tower in New York City. I walked into his office with high hopes on August 15, 2016. I walked out of that office after meeting with him, and I knew God had chosen him for such a time as this.

God answered our prayers, our millions of prayer, and gave us grace and a miracle happened on November 8, 2016. We were given a second chance and time granted to get our country back on track with our conservative values and getting people saved in Jesus’ name.”

Mike Lindell Speech – Mike Lindell Press Conference

On March 30, 2020 during the White House coronavirus briefing he encouraged Americans to pray during the coronavirus pandemic. He said prayer was needed after religion has disappeared in public schools, and he praised President Trump’s response to the crisis.

“God gave us grace on November 8, 2016, to change the course we were on. God had been taken out of our schools and lives, a nation had turned its back on God. I encourage you to use this time at home to get back in the word. Read our Bible and spend time with our families.”
