Since he was overthrown he was charged with various crimes and sought the death penalty, a move denounced by Amnesty International as “a charade based on null and void procedures.” In November 2016 his death sentence was overturned and a retrial was ordered.
Mohamed Morsi Death
Morsi died on June 17, 2019, after collapsing in court shortly after addressing the court in Cairo over charges of espionage related to suspected contacts with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, which had close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Before he collapsed he spoke for five minutes from a soundproof glass cage.
In May his family had said that the authorities had repeatedly denied access to him and that they knew little about the state of his health. Also according to human rights group Amnesty International Morsi was allowed only three visits from relatives and was denied access to his lawyers or a doctor.

After Mohamed was elected in 2012 Naglaa said she doesn’t want to be called the first lady. “I want to be called the president’s wife. Who said that the president’s wife is the first lady anyways?” She told The Associated Press by telephone.
She also said she preferred to be called Umm Ahmed, which means mother of Ahmed — her eldest son. This brought a lot of criticism as she has also not taken on her husband’s last name in public in a sign of self-assertion that also falls in line with Islamic tradition throughout Egypt.
She also revealed that if she has to have a title she wouldn’t mind being called “the first servant” of the people.
