Patrick Baumann Career
Baumann began his career as a lawyer at Foreign Police Department, Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1990 a position he held until 1991. In 1991 he became a lawyer and trainee at Swiss Bank Corporation in Lausanne, Basel and St. Gallen (Switzerland) untiL 1993.
Patrick Baumann FIBA
In 1994 Baumann joined FIBA a lawyer becoming FIBA’s deputy secretary general in 1995 a position he held until 2002. In 2002 he was appointed as FIBA Central Board as Secretary General. In 2010 his contract was extended by the World Federation which he would serve until 2028.
In 2009 he was appointed to the International Advisory Board of the World Academy of Sport. He has been a member of the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) since 2010. In 2011 he was elected as a Council member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and was reelected in 2015.

In 2016 he was elected as the Secretary General of an international Federation a position he held until 2017. He was then appointed as the president of the Evaluation Commission for the Games of XXXIII Olympiad.
He was also the president of the 2020 Lausanne Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee. In 2016 he was elected as President of GAISF, formerly SportAccord, for the 2016-2020 term. In 2017 he was elected as President of SportAccord, former SportAccord Convention.
In 2007 he became a member of the IOC, he was also a member of the IOC Evaluation Commissions for the Olympic Games 2008 and 2020. He was a member of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games 2012, chairman of the Evaluation Commission and Vice-Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games 2024. He was appointed as Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games 2028.
Baumann has previously served as a basketball player, coach and referee in Switzerland and Italy.

Patrick Baumann Death
Baumann passed on on 14th October 2018 while attending the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
