Pearl Modiadie is a South African media personality, radio Dj, actress and producer born on 29th December 1987 in Tembisa, South Africa. She is popularly known for presenting the SABC 1 music talk show, Zaziwa.

In 2006, while still a student at Rosebank College,she was approached about beginning a career in TV, which prompted her to take a gap year in college and began her career in the media.
After the gap year she went back to school but continued to appear on various TV shows. In 2010 she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies and Journalism.
In 2009 she joined radio as a host of The YFM Playground on Gauteng’s youth station YFM.She later moved to host and produce ‘The Natural High’, a weekend radio show at YFM, a youth radio station. She was later offered the weekend breakfast show ‘The Jumpstart’ which she hosted and produced until her departure from the station in 2013.
In 2013 she began hosting Zaziwa,a popular music talk show in South Africa,on SABC 1 and later became the co-executive producer for the show, but still continued to host. The show was temporarily cancelled due to scheduling difficulties. The show resumed on 8th November 2017 but was moved from its Sunday time slot to Wednesday nights.
In 2014 during the 2014 FIFA world cup she was a co host of ‘Kasi ToFavelas’, a live soccer lifestyle show on SABC 1, which aired at 8pm. The same year she teamed up with the company for women and world’s leading direct-marketing company, AVON as the spokesperson/brand ambassador of the ‘Aspire’ fragrance.
Woolworths South Africa also asked her to join their 2014 online and in-store winter and summer fashion campaigns which encourage fashion conversation on social media. The summer campaign saw Pearl styling a few of the campaign’s looks for the ‘Styled By Pearl’ edition.
In 2015 she joined Metro FM, a station that promotes a modern South Africa and focuses on R&B, Hip Hop, Kwaito, Gospel, and Contemporary Jazz music. She co- hosts the Primetime Lunchtime show alongside Amon Mokoena.
Pearl Modiadie Acting
Pearl Modiadie made her acting debut on Bhuti Madlisa where she played as Poppy.She has since played various roles including the feisty Kefiloe Malope on etv’s prime-time soapie Scandal in 2013. She received raving reviews for her character portrayal and the character subsequently died of a drug overdose. Pearl can be seen playing the reoccuring role of DJ Jade, a radio DJ on the biggest soapie, Generations The Legacy.
Pearl Modiadie Husband
In December 2015 Pearl Modiadie got engaged to Nkululeko Buthelezi after he proposed by the Zambezi River. They met when Pearl was to MC an event for Nkululeko company but the event didn’t happen. They began dating and seven months later they got engaged.
In November 2016 they called off the engagement but they did not reveal the reason behinnd it. During an interview with Drum Magazine in February 2017 she said it was hard for her but she was focused on finding herself.
“It was hard. But I learnt that no matter how tough things get you must allow yourself to feel everything you’re feeling when you’re at home.”
In April 2017, six months later, they rekindled the flame and got back together with Pearl confirming it to Sunday World
“I can confirm that we are back together and very happy with each other. But that’s all I can say because I hate discussing my private life in the media. ”
Pearl Modiadie Wedding
Pearl was supposed to have a traditional wedding at the beginning of May 2018 but it was cancelled a few days to the wedding.Invitations had already been sent out but it was allegedly cancelled due to differences she had with her fiancee.
When asked about why she cancelled the wedding she said it was something that she was not ready to talk about. A relative revealed that it was due to ‘silly’ clashes with Buthelezi.
“I will not tell you what those silly clashes are because she would know I’m the source of your story. Although they had those kind of clashes in the past, she hoped they would not reoccur. She noted that if she continued with this wedding, she would have to divorce him after a few weeks, and this was going to dent her brand. She felt it would rather be better if she calls it off.She always walked on eggs shells around him and this resulted in her bottling up the issues.” a relative revealed to Ghafla.
Pearl Modiadie Children
Pearl is a step mother to Nkululeko children from his previous marriage. During an interview with True Magazine she said that seeing Nkululeko with his kids has helped her see what kind of father he will be to her future children.
“He’s a wonderful dad and will do anything for his children. We all have a mutually respectful relationship-they’re such great kids and because we all live together, it was important that we build a foundation of trust from the beginning, and to understand each other’s roles in our lives and ensure that every action comes from a place of love.”
