Hyde was in a relationship with Jennyfer Morin until they broke up in 2006 after Hyde learned Morin was pregnant.

According to court records Hyde owed Jennyfer more than $2,000 in child support for their 13-year-old son, despite him making donations to President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee.

Jennyfer said during an interview that she was compelled to come forward because Hyde is seeking public support for his campaign to represent Connecticut’s 5th District. She added that she was struck by the difference between Hyde’s public persona as a political figure and his abdication of personal responsibility regarding his teenage son.

“He can’t even afford $100 a week in child support but he’s golfing with Trump. We’re going back and forth and he’s stating he’s unemployed and can’t afford child support.”

Robert Hyde Ukraine – Robert Hyde Marie Yovanovitch

On Tuesday, Jan 14, 2020, House Democrats released a document that shows that Robert F. Hyde was in contact with an associate of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, purportedly relaying information about the location of U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

A letter sent by Rep. Adam B. Schiff, House Intelligence Committee Chairman read; “Mr. Hyde … sent a series of text messages suggesting that he had Ambassador Yovanovitch under physical surveillance in Kyiv and that ‘They are willing to help if we/you would like a price.’”

Marie Yovanovitch called for an investigation into her monitoring. Lawrence Robbins, an attorney for Yovanovitch said;

“Needless to say, the notion that American citizens and others were monitoring Ambassador Yovanovitch’s movements for unknown purposes is disturbing. We trust that the appropriate authorities will conduct an investigation to determine what happened.”

In March 2019 Hyde received a string of texts from Lev Parnas regarding Yovanovitch, who testified in the House impeachment inquiry in November and has been vilified by Republicans. In one message Hyde wrote about Yovanovitch, “Can’t believe Trump hasn’t fired this [expletive].”

The messages show Hyde providing Parnas regular updates on Yovanovitch’s location.

“They are moving her tomorrow,” he writes at one point on March 25.

“She’s talked to three people. Her phone is off. Computer is off.”

“She’s next to the embassy.”

“Not in the embassy.”

“Private security. Been there since Thursday.”

“They know she’s a political puppet, they will let me know when she’s on the move.”

Hyde wrote that the unidentified individuals “are willing to help if we/you would like a price. Guess you can do anything in the Ukraine with money … what I was told.”

In a subsequent message to Parnas the next day he wrote: “If you want her out they need to make contact with security forces.”

Following the release of the documents, Hyde denied through a tweet that he was monitoring Yovanovitch.

“How low can liddle [sic] Adam Bull Schiff go? I was never in Kiev. For them to take some texts my buddy’s and I wrote back to some dweeb we were playing with that we met a few times while we had a few drinks is definitely laughable. Schiff is a desperate turd playing with this Lev guy.”
