Paxton Fielies Biography

Paxton Fielies is a South African singer and songwriter born on 17th September 2000 in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, South Africa. She is popularly known for winning season 13 Idols South Africa. She is officially considered the youngest South African Female Idol to ever win this title.

At the age of 7 she discovered her talent in music. In 2013 she started sharing covers of popular songs on social media. She gained popularity when her cover of ‘Lay Me Down’ by Sam Smith went viral.

Paxton Fielies Education Background

Paxton was studying music at Belhar High School for the Arts but she dropped out in 2017 to concentrate on the competition (Idols SA)

She said she was going to complete her high school education as she wants to further her studies at university.

“My teachers were very supportive because I was pursuing what I was being taught at school. I wish to return after the pressure has cooled down,” she said.

Paxton Fielies Idols SA

In 2017 Paxton auditioned for SA Idols. She was the first person to get a Golden Ticket in the Cape Town auditions for Idols season 13. She auditioned with Tori Kelly’s Confetti. During theatre week she wowed the judges and voting public with her rendition of “American Boy” by Estelle. Some of Paxtons’ most memorable performances on South African Idol Season 13 include her renditions of “Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland, “Side To Side” by Ariana Grande and “Listen” by Beyonce.

She won Idols SA 13 becoming youngest person to win SA idols, since the competition was won by Jody Williams at the same age of 17 in 2007.

She released her first “Demonstrate” after the win. In 2018 together with Craig Lucas (Winner of the Voice South Africa 2017) they released their duet “Smother”

Paxton Fielies Activism

Paxton was “selected as the ambassador for the ‘You Me equal Rights’ aimed at advocating for equal right for both girl and boy children. Paxton together with eight other ambassadors also received the Crystal Globe Award for their participation at the prize ceremony and in advocating for children’s rights. And is being trained to become an active ambassador for children’s rights”

Paxton Fielies Album

In June 2018 she released her debut album ‘This Is Me’. She announced the release on her instagram page.

“I discovered when I was a little child that I have passion for music . I feel so blessed for having achieved this at my age because there are many artists releasing singles and not albums. I worked with a team that understands me. My manager also helped me because she always fetches me from Cape Town if they need me in Joburg and takes me back home once done” she said.

Paxton Fielies Family

Paxton parents are Crystal Fielies and Paul de Bruyn. She has one sister Portia Fielies.
