Aretha Franklin Funeral
On 31st August he officiated Aretha Franklin funeral and came under heat after he was seen touching Ariana Grande’s breast while hugging her.
Ariana Grande Groping
Ariana Grande was one of the performers at Aretha Franklin funeral where she sang Ms. Franklin’s hit songs, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” . After her performance as she was leaving the stage she was called by Charles H. Ellis III and thanked her.
“When I saw Ariana Grande at the program, I thought that was a new something at Taco Bell” while saying this his hand was on Ariana’s waist and his fingers on her breast.
“Girl, let me give you all your respect, did you all enjoy this icon? She’s an icon herself.”
Most people took to twitter to show they dislike of how he handled Ariana with the hashtag #RespectAriana
I don’t care what you think about Ariana Grande, her music or her dress. This is wrong. That bishop’s hand should not be on her breast: I just saw this because I’ve been working and not watching pic.twitter.com/ixVhgYBJTN

Bishop Charles H. Ellis III belittled @ArianaGrande, suggesting she was a Taco Bell menu item, while physically locking her in awkward embrace and squeezing her breast. This has nothing to do with what she’s wearing and everything to do with his shameful refusal to #RespectAriana https://t.co/KEbxaeUIdj

The fact that a woman was disrespected multiple times on live television by men who are in positions of power blows my mind. Just imagine what happens behind closed doors. This was totally inappropriate, a short dress is NOT an invitation. #RespectAriana pic.twitter.com/YkJmmEpgL9

Bishop Charles H. Ellis III later apologised during a press interview with Assosiated Press saying that it was not his intention to touch Ariana’s breast.
“I personally and sincerely apologize to Ariana and to her fans and to the whole Hispanic community. When you’re doing a program for nine hours, you try to keep it lively, you try to insert some jokes here and there. It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast. … I don’t know; I guess I put my arm around her. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar, but again, I apologize.” He told Associated Press during an interview.
