Mac Miller birth name Malcolm James McCormick was an American rapper and singer born on 19th January 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. He was also a record producer under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman. He died on 7th September 2018 of an apparent drug overdose.

Mac Miller Tour

In August 2018 Mac released his album ‘Swimming’ which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. He was set to kick off a U.S. tour to promote the album. On 6th September he tweeted that he just want to go on tour asked people to go buy tickets.

Mac Miller began rapping at the age of fourteen and in 2007 at the age of 15 he released his
first mixtape “But My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy”. At the time he went by the moniker Easy Mac. In 2010 he signed to Rostrum Records splitting from the label in 2014.

In 2011 he released his mixtape “Best Day Ever” which propelled him to fame debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the single “Donald Trump.”

Mac Miller Drug Use

Mac Miller began using drugs, a combination of promethazine and codeine, known as “purple drank” or “lean” in 2012 as a way to manage stress he was enduring during his Macadelic Tour.

In January 2013 he told Complex “I love lean; it’s great. I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy. I was so fucked up all the time it was bad. My friends couldn’t even look at me the same. I was lost.” He stopped taking lean in November 2012 before he started shooting his reality show ‘Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family’.

In 2013 during an interview with Nosey he said:

“Drugs are dangerous, dude. But they’re awesome. Just dangerous. Drugs are not like a new thing. Especially with me, I’ve been doing drugs since I was fifteen.”

In his 2014 mix tape “Faces” he rapped about his struggles with addiction. During an interview with Vulture he said: “I used to rap super openly about really dark (expletive), because that’s what I was experiencing at the time. That’s fine, that’s good, that’s life. It should be all the emotions.”

In 2015 during an interview with Billboard he said :

“I’m not completely sober, but I’m way better than I was at that point [when recording his album Faces, released in May 2014]…. I listened to Faces, and it’s a great project because it’s so raw, but every single song is about coke, drugs…I’m not 100 percent clean, but I’m not a piece of shit anymore. I can look in the mirror and be like, “I look OK.”

Mac Miller and Ariana Grande

In 2013 Mac Miller was featured in Ariana Grande breakout track “The Way” . In 2016 they began dating with Grande appearing on Miller’s single “My Favorite Part” in 2016.

In May 2018 they broke up with Ariana saying that they will always remain as friends. A Twitter user critizes Ariana’s decision to leave Mac which Ariana replied with a Tweet.

Mac Miller Death and Cause of Death

On 7th September 2018 Mac Miller was found unresponsive in his home and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:51 a.m. His family released a statement saying: “He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans.”

Warner Bros. Records, his record label also released a statement saying.
