Francesco Paolo Augusto Calì popularly known as Frank Cali or Franky Boy was the boss of the Gambino crime family. He was born on March 26, 1965, in New York City, New York, U.S. He was shot dead on 13th March 2019 outside his home on Staten Island.

Frank parents are Augusto and Agata Cesare, both natives of Palermo, Sicily. His father ran a goods store in Palermo and a video store in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. He was mentioned in the Pizza Connection investigation as a partner of Domenico Adamita, allied to Sicilian Mafia boss Gaetano Badalamenti.

Frank was the nephew nephew-in-law of a Sicilian mobster named John Gambino. He was also the great-nephew of Giovanni Bonventre and Vito Bonventre, both of which were a part of the Bonnano crime family.

Frank Cali Shot/ Gambino Boss Murdered

Frank Cali was reportedly shot on Wednesday night, 13th March 2019, outside his home in the New York City borough of Staten Island. According to the police Cali was in Todt Hill neighbourhood of Staten Island outside his SUV when a man in a blue pickup truck drove by, shooting him six times in the torso. The pickup truck reportedly ran him over after he was killed

The New York Post reported that Frankie was shot several times in the torso in the Todt Hill section of Staten Island around 9:20 p.m. He was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he was pronounced dead.

It is unclear how many times he was shot but according to a witness who called 911, he claimed to have heard at least six gunshots. While a neighbour of Cali told New York Times that he heard a burst of about seven gunshots just after 9 p.m.

His murder occurred on the same day that Joseph Cammarano Jr., the reputed acting boss of the Bonanno crime family, was acquitted at trial, and about a week after Carmine J. Persico, a longtime boss of the Colombo crime family, died in prison at age 85.

Who Killed Frank Cali

It is unclear who shot Cali as no arrest has been made and police continue to investigate the shooting. According to NYPD, the suspect sped away from the scene in a blue pickup truck.
