Kodi Lee is an autistic and blind contestant on America’s Got Talent who got the first golden buzzer of the season from judge Gabrielle Union earning himself a free pass to the finals.
Cody has been performing his singing and piano expertise all across the globe for many years. Prior to joining America’s Got Talent he performed at different venues such as local restaurants, wineries, and music events. His musical repertoire ranges from rock to jazz, to R & B, and pop. He also has a mastery of the classics such as Bach, Chopin, Mozart among others.

Kody’s parents are supportive of his career. His mother Tina Lee is of American ethnicity while his father is of Korean ethnicity. His mother credits music for helping him triumph over autism.
She said; “He has all these talents, but he has trouble communicating. He used to tantrum like 30 times a day. After he started performing, he got it. It really helped us to get his autism under control. He wants to be an entertainer.”

Kodi Lee auditioned for the season 14 premiere of America’s Got Talent. He sang and played the piano which moved the judges and audience to tears. He auditioned with the song “A Song For You” by Ray Charles and at the end of it, he received a standing ovation.
After the performance judge Simon Cowell praised him saying; “What just happened there was extraordinary. Your voice is absolutely fantastic… I’m going to remember this moment for the rest of my life.”
Prior to performing, he went to stage with his mother who introduced herself as Tina Lee and when she was asked to talk a little bit about her son she said;
“Kodi is blind and autistic. We found out that he loved music really early on. He listened and his eyes just went huge and he started singing, and that’s just when I was in tears because that’s when I realized ‘Oh my gosh, he’s an entertainer.’ Through music and performing, he was able to withstand living in this world because when you’re autistic, it’s really hard to do what everybody else does. It actually has saved his life, playing music.”
Simon Cowell talked about him even before the show premiered, during an interview with USA Today he called him ‘incredible’ and said that he hoped the public love him. He also added that he hoped they will.

After the performance, Kody received a golden buzzer from Gabrielle Union. She said; “I’m a new judge this season and I’m also a new mom this year. It’s the toughest job I’ve ever had and the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. You just want to give your kids the moon, the stars, and the rainbows, and tonight I’m gonna give you something special.” She then pressed her Golden Buzzer.
